Two feedings that matter most
A lot of lawn care companies push year-round programs. I keep it simple and focus on the two applications that do the most good alongside aeration and seeding.
Starter fertilizer
New grass seed needs a different kind of nutrition than an established lawn. Starter fertilizer is designed to encourage early root growth, so seedlings anchor in quickly and fill in faster. It’s the natural add-on to aeration and overseeding.
Fall winterizer
A late-fall feeding helps your lawn store energy in its roots before winter. When the snow melts, a winterized lawn tends to green up earlier and handle spring stress better. It pairs perfectly with fall aeration.
Why timing it with aeration helps
Our heavy Davis County soils and thatch layers can keep fertilizer sitting on top of the lawn. Right after a core aeration, there are thousands of open channels straight into the root zone. Fertilizing then means more of what you pay for actually reaches the grass.
Responsible application
- Calibrated spreading for even coverage, no stripes or burn spots
- Granules cleared off sidewalks, driveways, and gutters
- Clear watering-in instructions after the visit
